28 October 2026 CEO Fullwood: “A milking robot should perform reliably for more than 15 years.”

In last week's interview with De Boerderij, Fullwood CEO Maarten van Raaij shares his vision for the future of robotic milking and the developments shaping Fullwood.

Following significant investments in product development and improvements to production, Fullwood is continuing to strengthen its position with the Merlin 2+. For Maarten, the focus is clear: “We have a strong, solid product with low maintenance costs, and the company is stable. We have production under control and are achieving good results.”

For Maarten, reliability and ease of maintenance remain essential. A milking robot needs to do more than deliver good performance, it also needs to be straightforward to maintain throughout its lifetime. “Our design philosophy and market approach are that the construction and maintenance should be easy. If something breaks, you should be able to maintain the machine with minimal technical knowledge, for example by replacing a cable or hose. You shouldn’t immediately need a larger, specialised component.”

Looking ahead, Fullwood aims to serve a wide range of dairy farms, from smaller European operations to large-scale farms with more than 1,000 cows. “Everywhere, there is a need for a ‘best in class’ robot. The challenge is to serve both types of farms well.”
